HDD writing speed is becoming an issue

here are my results. what can I do to increase my write/read speed?

I guess that the problem is more of just an annoyance...I find myself bottlenecked by the hdd when doing something like burning a DVD--my other applications have a hard time writing or reading data...anything I can do other than setting 2+ hdds in raid?

HDDs are typically going to be the bottleneck. You could do a striped RAID, but going for an SSD instead would really provide a dramatic performance increase.
