About NovabenchService

Novabench installs a lightweight Windows system service called NovabenchService that enables hardware sensor features. The service is designed to use minimal RAM and CPU.

What NovabenchService does

NovabenchService provides access to low-level hardware data that requires elevated permissions on Windows. The service enables the following Novabench features:

  • CPU and GPU temperature and load readings
  • Temperature and battery history (optional Plus features)

Without the service running, the Temperature and Battery pages in Novabench will not display data.

Managing the service

You can stop or disable NovabenchService through the Windows Services manager (services.msc), or in Novabench on the sensor settings page. Stopping the service will disable temperature and battery monitoring in Novabench, but all other benchmark and scoring functionality will continue to work normally.

If Novabench is uninstalled, the service is removed automatically.

Why it may be running on your system

If you see NovabenchService running on a system you did not personally install Novabench on, it is likely that your organization's IT department installed Novabench to help maintain system performance across managed devices.
