Warranty and coverage
The Warranty card shows factory warranties, extended coverage, service levels, and coverage dates. This card is a Novabench Pro feature.
Novabench reads warranty data that is already available on the device. It does not send the device serial number to a manufacturer.
Windows
Novabench supports warranty data from Dell, Lenovo, and HP. Install the management package for the device manufacturer:
Manufacturer | Required software |
|---|
Dell | Dell Command | Monitor |
Lenovo | Lenovo Commercial Vantage |
HP | HP Client Management Script Library (CMSL) |
The consumer versions of these tools do not provide the required warranty data.
Make sure that the Novabench service is running. Then open the Warranty card.
The manufacturer package controls when its warranty data changes. The Warranty card shows the last refresh time when that information is available.
macOS
Novabench shows AppleCare coverage that is available on the Mac. The device must complete an Apple coverage update before the card can show data.
The card keeps Apple coverage labels exact. For example, a renewable AppleCare+ plan can show a renewal date instead of an expiration date.
Linux
Warranty collection is not available on Linux.
What the card shows
A device can have more than one entitlement. The card can show these fields:
Field | Description |
|---|---|
Warranty | The entitlement name, such as a factory warranty, Care Pack, or AppleCare+ |
Provider | The company that provides the entitlement |
Service level | Onsite, depot, next-business-day service, or a similar service level |
Coverage period | The available start and end dates |
Coverage | The Apple coverage label on macOS |
Theft & loss | Whether an Apple plan includes theft and loss coverage |
When coverage is unavailable
The Warranty card gives a reason when it cannot show coverage:
Message | Meaning | Action |
|---|---|---|
Warranty lookup is not supported for this manufacturer | Novabench does not support warranty data for this device | No action is necessary. |
OEM warranty tool not installed | The required manufacturer package is not installed | Install the package from the Windows table. |
No warranty data reported by the OEM tool | The manufacturer package did not provide an entitlement | Refresh the warranty data in the manufacturer package. |
Warranty lookup service is currently unavailable | The Novabench service is not available | Start the service, then refresh the card. |
No AppleCare coverage found for this Mac | Apple coverage data is not available on the device | Complete an Apple coverage update, then refresh the card. |
AppleCare coverage details could not be read | Novabench could not read the available coverage data | Report the problem and include the macOS version. |
Refresh behavior
Novabench refreshes locally available warranty data once every 24 hours. A failed refresh does not remove coverage that the card showed earlier.
Fleet reporting
Novabench for Work includes collected warranty data in device inventory. Fleet reports can identify expired coverage, upcoming expiration dates, and missing manufacturer packages.
