Embedding a forum into my html website?

Recommended Posts

Ok I am trying to figure out how to embed a phpbb forum into my html website.

This is the page I want to embed it in.
http://projectgogen.novahost.org/forums.html
I want it to stay in this page or at least have the layout of the website.
It would be embedded in the text area.

This is the forum I want to embed.
http://projectgogen.novahost.org/forum/index.php

If I can't do this I want to have the forums work like the forums on this website.
http://www.mytanc.com/
Either way would be great. Let me know how I can do this. Any help is greatly welcomed.

you could just modify the template of your forum to include the html of the page that you want to embed it into. Another option (although one which would break the address bar) would be to include the forum as an iframe in the main content area of your website.

Now I like the idea of modifying the template of the forum to include this html page. But I have no clue how to do it forsure. All I know it that you edit the header and footer of the php forums. But I don't know what to add and where to add the html in those files. Any help is greatly accepted. :) I don't really like the iframe idea either. I don't want to brake the address bar.

The header html would be everything in your initial page from after the body tag up until "Forums Coming Soon". I wouldn't be able to tell exactly without looking at your header file, but you should be able to put it right after the <body> tag. If that doesn't work, try putting it right between where it outputs

<div id="hidepage" style="position: absolute; left:0px; top:0px; background-color: #FFFFFF; layer-background-color: #FFFFFF; height: 100%; width: 100%;">

<table width="100%" height="100%">

  <tr>

	<td align="center" valign="middle">

		<table width="50%" align="center" style="border: 1 #666666 solid">

		  <tr>

			<td align="center" class="row1"><span class="genmed"><br /><b>Page Loading... please wait!</b><p><img src="templates/aallixSilver/images/loading.gif"><p>The page still does not show? Click <a href="java script:hideLoadingPage()">here</a><br />&nbsp;</span></td>

		  </tr>

		</table>

	</td>

  </tr>

</table>

</div>

<a name="top"></a>

and where it outputs

<table width="500" cellpadding="2" cellspacing="1" border="0" class="forumline">

<tr> <td class="catHead" height="28"><span class="cattitle"><center>

<a href="index.php?sid=5d3929bf1ef5f36578f4056a8bfb15ad">Project GoGen Forum Index</a> ::

<a href="faq.php?sid=5d3929bf1ef5f36578f4056a8bfb15ad">FAQ</a> ::

<a href="search.php?sid=5d3929bf1ef5f36578f4056a8bfb15ad">Search</a>

</span>

</td></tr>

What Elyk is suggesting is the correct way to do this. Basically to modify a page all you need to do is Modify the header, footer and CSS.

just go into templates and just put in at the top - before the <?PHP, you can use HTML. I believe so anyway it how adverts are done
