[OLD VERSION] Same GTX 970 fps and score regardless of resolution and settings

Recommended Posts

Hello I am using two GTX 970 ssc in sli and whenever I run the novabench gpu benchmark I get a very low score of 22 and fps of 77. The results are exactly the same whether the resolution is 1600 x 900, 1280 x 720, and 5050 x 900. I also get very low fps in games where I should be able to get at least 60, such as in GTA 5 where the fps dips to under 30 regardless of resolution and/or graphics settings.

First thing to check is that your power supply is sufficient for both GPUs, that all cables are connected properly.

Thanks for the reply,

The PSU is a Corsair AX760, and I am using the cables that split 8 pin from the psu to 6+2 and 6 pin to plug into the GPU. I have attached pictures of my current cable situation.

Novabench GPU test on Windows is most likely not using the SLI, but since you say you have problems in games too, there's probably something wrong..

I would recommend using GPU-Z to check power and GPU usage during a game to see if both GPUs are being used fully.

It's hard to test a PSU. I think the GPU-Z chart looks okay.

Try a few simpler things first:

  • testing each card individually for issues (remove the other one)
  • update your BIOS
  • make sure the nvidia driver is the latest
  • check for firmware updates for the cards from EVGA

Thanks for your reply, I've been testing each GPU separately after updating the bios yielded no results. During all of the benchmarks I tried in MSI Kombustor the FPS remained at around 79-82, regardless of settings and resolution. Also, while benchmarking, the usage remained under 50%
