DDR3 1600, only 6000-7000MB/s

Recommended Posts

I tested my two computer, both shows pretty low RAM speed 6000MB/s and 7000MB/s. When I looked other users' scores with DDR3, easily touch down any over 13000MB/s. What is wrong with my computers? Those rams are plugged in dual mode in motherboard. Still I think it's quite low comparing to others.

1st one:

FX-8350

DDR3 G.Skill 1600 4x2GB

gigabyte 990fxa-ud3

2st one:

G.SKILL Ripjaws Series 8GB (2 x 4GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1600 (PC3 12800) Desktop Memory Model F3-12800CL9D-8GBRL

ASUS A85XM-A FM2 AMD A85X (Hudson D4) SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.0 HDMI Micro ATX AMD Motherboard

RAM speed is also dependent upon yoyour CPU and motherboard configurations. What the RAM benchmark is testing essentially is the speed of moving data to/from CPU registers to main memory. The speed can be increased with a faster processor, higher bus speeds, etc. You could try adjusting some RAM timing settings in BIOS, they may not already be optimal.

I actually own the same MB and if you are using 2 sticks of memory make sure they are in the right slots, it makes a difference: For example here's my result with single channel memory:

AMD FX8320 EightCore running at 3514 MHz

Quick Comparison

and here it is after I switched the sticks into a dual channel config

quite a difference from just switching from single to dual channel and a reboot
