Scoring has been changed to bring it more inline with PCs

Recommended Posts

Hi!

What is that supposed to mean? Why would my Mac score need to be changed?

Novabench gives me a 2029 score, and when I upload it I get a 1490 score with only explanation, that single line telling me that the score has been changed.

Could someone explain further?

Thanks.

The graphics tests are different for Windows and Mac. Since the framerate of two different tests can't be directly compared, we have to use a formula to make sure the same GPUs on both OS's score the same.

Windows has a scene of an island running in DirectX. Mac has spinning cubes running in OpenGL. Similar to running too different games (e.g. CoD vs. Battlefield maybe) would produce different framerates.

They are still be compared to produce accurate GPU scores, but regression analysis to fit the two different scores together has to be used.

We'll be updating our Mac App with the latest formula soon.
