  1. Hello everyone new to novabench, did my first benchmark but was surprised to see my GPU results was only 5fps ok i know its not the most powerful cpu in the world but i can easily get 150fps on Half Life 2 and can run most games up too 2010 period at lower settings and that's without a graphics card, its runs off the apu, just surprised to see such a low FPS i have supplied a screen shot as well
  2. I am a security researcher and after hearing that "fixes" for the Meltdown and Spectre CPU vulnerabilities could reduce performance I installed Novabench to see if would help me investigate this. (You may see an uptick in downloads from other people thinking the same as me.) The product is easy to install and use, but I was surprised that every time I benchmark my test system the score increases, for no obvious reason. That makes me uncomfortable using this tool for research, but I freely acknowledge that performance testing is not my area of expertise, so could I be missing something? (BTW, if I decide to use Novabench in my work, for example, to produce an article on this topic for our blog (WeLiveSecurity.com) then I will be sure my company buys a commercial license.) Appreciate any light you can shed on this (excuse the pun - derived from your graphics test with the light hitting the storage shed). Stephen Cobb, CISSP

<a href="https://novabench.com/view/1165662"><img src="https://novabench.com/image/1165662.png" alt="Novabench Score" border="0" /></a> Why would my CPU be lower than average? What can I do to improve?
  6. I have a 2009 HP m9600t PC. The only upgrades I have made are the cpu which was upgraded to a still 2009 i7-980 (not even the 980x), and an NVidia gtx 970 video card. Everything else still stock including the hard drive. And all that running at 4K. And memory can only run at the locked by HP speed of PC3-8500. The lowest speed in DDR3 ram. My scores are better than most new cpu's and system of today. Moral is that for a few hundred bucks you can update your system without breaking the bank. Still going strong after seven years. By the way, I bought this system refurbished back in '09. I think I can get an other 3 years out of this old lady! Look at my CPU score, better than some i7-5820k and most i7-6500 or 6700... 7. i5 Haswell Processor

What i5 Haswell is good for gaming and a decent price? Any info would be welcome, thanks.
  8. Preferences Hy, NovaBech says I have a "Intel Core i7 @ 2000 MHz", but as you can see at the picture, I have a 2.6GHz i7... Does anyone knows why NovaBench says "Intel Core i7 @ 2000 MHz"???
  9. Hi, I have just acheived a cpu score for my Xeon W3540 2.93GHz chip of 417 and looked at other peoples results for the same chip. What i found was that about two thirds of the results were around the 600 mark and the rest are around the 400 mark. There doesn't seem to be any middle ground; scores are either one or the other. MD5 hash performance is about the same but the integer and floating point results are around half the performance on the systems scoring 400. The fact that it is very close to half did make me wonder if only 2 cores are being used instead of 4 but running Task manager whilst testing shows all 4 cores are being utilised. Obviously i would be interested in doubling the performance of my chip on these tests if anyone has any bright ideas? Thank you for you time, David
